This mentality in psychology is best described as a way to showcase how self-centered and the kind of mindset certain people feel within a group, and can go any length to sabotage the progression of others in the same group.
Nobody ever rises by pulling another down but we can only rise by lifting others. Crab mentality takes nobody anywhere. The attitude of gratitude and appreciation is the best, looking back and having a self-reflection and appreciating progress you have made from the point you are now. Instead of exhausting your negative energy in focusing on the progression of people around you, you should best channel your positive energy into being grateful and looking for a better way to develop yourself.Have a quiet moment of self-reflection and most importantly try to reach out to ask for help from genuine support systems. Ask for an introduction and be determined to focus all your energy on finding a way to help yourself and in return help others. That crab illustration is a typical mindset where everyone in a certain group is after how to escape and abandon others into the same cycle that is why they keep pulling each other down. Your mindset is what is going to take you to other places and into new opportunities, your mindset is what is also going to keep you stuck into the same cycle of myopic and mediocrity way of reasoning.

Sadly some people DO succeed (financially anyway) by dragging other people down (and treading on them).
This is not the sort of success I want or aspire to.
You are very right EC integrity must not be comprised with any material gain.
How true you are in what you have written.
Always good to put a hand out and help someone.

Nice. That story's been heard plenty here in Mexico, it's used to describe that harmful behavior you so accurately explained and whenever it happens amongst us. Great post.
Thank you very much A.S for your response.
Indeed...sadly, this does seem to be an unpleasant aspect of people's mindsets, doesn't it?!🙄
Greetings from Hampshire.
You are very right YGR people need to develop their mindset to be very sound and with good judgement.
